Historical Building Exhibit - Erie County Fair (August 2018)
A "VICTORY GARDEN" poster from WWII hangs on the wall of the Schoolhouse #8 exhibit at the 2018 Erie County Fair. The U.S. Department of Agriculture encouraged citizens to plant their own vegetables and fruits during World War II. Not only did these Victory Gardens reduce pressure on the public food supply, they were also considered to be a morale booster, as gardeners felt empowered by their own contribution of labor.
